Keypad for a Vending Machine: Membrane or Replacement Overlay?

Confirm the supplied component and resolve part-number differences before ordering a selection-panel replacement.

When ordering a keypad for a vending machine, ask whether the offer is for a keypad membrane, a replacement overlay or another assembly. Similar wording and the same machine family do not establish that two listings supply the same component.

Vending World lists a keypad membrane and a separate membrane overlay for Dixie Narco 5800 Bev-Max 2/3 equipment. The examples below explain an order-scope question. They are third-party parts listings, not confirmed replacements for WEIMI machines or a diagnosis of an unresponsive selection panel.

One listing names the keypad membrane

The 5800 Bev-Max 2/3 keypad membrane listing identifies a new part. Its title, SKU and detailed manufacturer-number field show 80410121001. The description says it fits 5800 Bev-Max 2/3 equipment.

However, a separate short line on that page shows a different reference, 80491301071. Do not choose between conflicting fields on appearance alone. Send the exact listing to the seller and ask it to confirm the correct part identity for the installed machine and revision before approving the purchase.

The overlay has a separate listing

The 5800 Bev-Max 2/3 overlay page calls its item a replacement overlay. It displays SKU D80387917011 and manufacturer number 8038791701 in the description. Retain both references when asking the seller to identify the offered component.

This separate listing supports a practical distinction in the catalogue: the named overlay is offered separately from the named keypad membrane. It does not establish that an overlay includes the complete keypad assembly, or that either item will correct a specific electrical fault.

Ask the seller to explain the boundary of each supply: which physical component is included, what must be retained from the machine and which compatible parts are required. Request a current photograph or drawing of the actual supplied item when the scope remains unclear.

Match the machine before comparing the offer

A vending keypad membrane order should identify the equipment manufacturer, full machine model, relevant revision and existing part reference if available. Have authorised service personnel provide the identification information required by the supplier.

Do not generalise the 5800 2/3 wording to every Bev-Max generation. The model family helps locate a candidate; it does not replace a confirmed component match. Keep the seller’s written compatibility response with the quotation and order record.

A worn surface and an input fault are different observations

Describe what has actually been observed: damaged markings, a torn surface, a particular selection failing to register or another specific symptom. An appearance problem does not by itself identify the cause of an input failure.

A vending membrane overlay and a keypad membrane should not be treated as interchangeable repairs without the supplier’s explanation. Ask the responsible technician to assess the fault using the machine’s applicable service documentation. This buying review does not provide disassembly, wiring or live diagnostic instructions.

Make the replacement quote explicit

Request the confirmed part number, supplied component, new or refurbished condition, included fitting items and machine applicability. Clarify return and support terms for the actual parts purchase; a general site statement about refurbished-machine warranty does not establish the warranty for this component.

After an authorised repair, ask the service provider to document the checks required by the equipment procedure before returning the machine to use. These are proposed handover requirements, not completed repair or reliability results.

For the separate issue of identifying existing access hardware, see our plug-lock and T-handle replacement buying review. Component identification should remain specific to the part being ordered.

For a WEIMI support request, provide the machine reference and the observed symptom, and ask which replacement component WEIMI supports. The third-party parts above are not established WEIMI options. Get My Custom Quote.
