A self service checkout kiosk is not automatically an AI store. Before comparing prices, establish how the basket is identified: does the shopper scan products at a terminal, or does a controlled-access cooler recognize what is taken? That difference changes the buying brief.
The official 365 Retail Markets pages reviewed on 8 November 2026 provide two specific examples. They describe that supplier's products, not confirmed WEIMI integrations. Neither example establishes that a separate kiosk can be connected to any vending cabinet.
The PicoMarket product page presents a compact countertop kiosk and lists a Newland EM2096 barcode reader. The page also describes a conventional PicoCooler shopping flow as grab, scan and pay. In a scanning workflow, the customer presents the products for identification at checkout; the terminal does not become a refrigerated storage cabinet simply because it processes the purchase.
For a proposed micro market kiosk, ask the supplier to demonstrate the actual sequence with your assortment. Where is each barcode presented? How does the shopper see the basket and correct a mistaken scan? Which products need a different selection method? These are questions to confirm, not functions established by the reader model alone.
Keep model names precise. Cash-acceptance wording on the PicoMarket page refers specifically to PicoMarket+. Do not assume that every compact kiosk accepts cash or includes the same payment hardware. Likewise, a barcode reader specification does not confirm your country's payment provider or currency.
The PicoCooler Vision page describes a refrigerated storefront with automatic product recognition. Its published flow lets customers shop shelves without scanning or vending individual products; computer vision and AI automate checkout. The page says access is restricted until the customer presents a cashless payment method.
This places product recognition in the cooler system rather than in a barcode scan performed by the shopper at a separate terminal. It also places a payment-related step before access to the goods. A buyer comparing the two formats should therefore request a demonstration from initial payment presentation through shopping to the final charge.
The public description does not settle every transaction exception. Ask the proposed supplier to show what happens when a customer takes an item and puts it back, takes several products, or disputes a charge. Obtain the supported assortment and the process for handling an unrecognized item. Do not infer universal pack compatibility or a guaranteed error rate from the phrase automatic recognition.
If you are equipping existing shelves or refrigerators, state that in the enquiry. Request a list of what the terminal quotation includes and what remains separate: merchandise storage, payment hardware, software services and installation. A checkout device's countertop dimensions do not describe the footprint of the complete retail area.
If you are considering AI cooler checkout, request the quoted cooler model, shelf arrangement, supported product range and required payment connection together. The 365 page describes both PicoCooler Vision and CV Vantage; their specifications should not be mixed into one assumed configuration.
Account compatibility also needs a named scope. The official pages describe using a single 365 account across 365-enabled devices. That statement does not establish interoperability with WEIMI equipment, an unrelated POS system or every payment provider.
Describe whether customers should scan their own basket at a separate station or present payment to open a cooler and shop its shelves. Include the product list, package photographs, existing storage equipment, target country and intended payment methods. Ask the supplier to identify the recognition method and show the complete purchase flow with representative products.
Our smart cooler versus micro market planning guide covers the wider basket, space and service decision. Request written confirmation of the proposed configuration; this third-party comparison does not promise a WEIMI standalone kiosk or compatibility with 365 systems.
