Vending Screen Software: Digital Signage or Content Management?

Specify playlists, interface changes, software updates and beverage parameters as separate purchasing requirements.

Before buying vending screen software, list the changes your team needs to make remotely. Playing a promotional video, changing the drink-selection interface and adjusting a beverage recipe are different tasks. A supplier’s phrase such as remote content control is too broad to establish that all three are included.

A documented example separates two modules

The official Newis AmiClo page describes a cloud solution for new-generation Gaggia, Necta and Wittenborg machines. It separates Digital Signage, or DS, from Content Management, or CM.

In that description, DS pushes playlists and manages screensavers on touchscreen-equipped machines. CM supports remote software downloads, user-interface changes and recipe-parameter changes. The feature list also describes video and photo playlists and remote software upgrades and downgrades.

This is a manufacturer-specific example, not a universal definition of every vending software package. Use it to ask better scope questions. A different supplier may organise or name its functions differently.

If you need advertising, demonstrate the playlist task

Ask the supplier to show how an authorised operator prepares a supported media file, selects the destination machine and checks the result on its actual screen. Confirm the accepted file formats, display layout, scheduling options and any storage limits in the proposed package.

Ask what the machine displays when a new playlist cannot be delivered. These are questions to resolve in a demonstration and written offer; the presence of a cloud dashboard does not establish the answer. Do not assume that a system intended for advertising also changes the purchase interface or the prepared drink.

If you need machine changes, name each type

Specify whether your team needs graphical-interface changes, software updates, beverage-parameter changes or a particular combination. Ask which quoted models and software versions support each function and whether the package includes the required module.

AmiClo’s published upgrade-and-downgrade feature is evidence for that named solution. It does not establish unrestricted version changes on another machine. Have the proposed supplier explain permitted versions, authorisation and the supported recovery process for the actual configuration.

For recipe changes, availability of an editing function is only the first question. Our remote beverage recipe approval guide covers the separate responsibility to keep ingredients, process settings and customer information aligned.

Put the deliverable in the quotation

Record the supported machines, included modules, account responsibilities and the functions demonstrated. Request any licence, connectivity, setup and support costs separately. A product page describing a full software package does not prove that every element is included in a particular quotation.

For acceptance, use the task the buyer actually needs. A successful playlist upload proves that demonstrated media task; it does not prove recipe editing. A changed interface proves that demonstrated interface change; it does not establish fleet-wide delivery to every machine.

Send WEIMI a brief identifying the content types, intended machine locations and exact remote changes required. Ask WEIMI to confirm available software and model compatibility. AmiClo’s documentation does not establish that WEIMI equipment supports AmiClo or its modules. Get My Custom Quote.
