Threadlocker Vending Stock: Why Colour Alone Is Not a SKU

A purchasing guide to approved grades, pack identity and dispensing trials for maintenance supplies.

A maintenance buyer planning an industrial vending machine needs a clear stock list before a cabinet layout. “Blue threadlocker” is too broad a description for an order line. Start with the manufacturer, exact product designation and pack size approved by the maintenance team. Then check whether that unopened pack can be stored and dispensed in the proposed equipment.

What do the colours tell a buyer?

Henkel’s official LOCTITE selection guide identifies LOCTITE 222 as purple and low strength, LOCTITE 243 as blue and medium strength, and LOCTITE 263 as red and high strength. It also describes LOCTITE 290 as a green wicking-grade product for certain preassembled applications. These are named products within that manufacturer’s range, not a universal colour standard for every adhesive supplier.

Colour can help a user recognise a familiar pack. It cannot replace the product number or prove that a different grade is an approved substitute. Henkel also discusses thread size, application conditions and removal requirements. The maintenance or engineering team should approve the application; the vending stock list should preserve that decision.

Build each vending stock entry around the approved pack

Give each intended issue item a stock reference that connects the approved grade to its actual packaging. Record the manufacturer and product number, nominal quantity, supplier ordering reference, and the unopened pack’s dimensions and weight. Keep the current technical data sheet and safety data sheet available to the people reviewing the proposal.

A different bottle size is a separate physical item even when the adhesive grade is unchanged. A carton, blister pack or bottle may require a different dispensing arrangement. Identify what the user receives in one issue: one sealed bottle, one carded tube or another complete supplier pack. Do not leave “one unit” undefined between purchasing and the equipment supplier.

Liquid bottles and sticks need separate review

Henkel’s guide describes semi-solid stick formats as an option where liquid can drip, including overhead application, and notes their usefulness in a toolbox. That does not establish that a stick and a liquid bottle are equivalent vending items. Compare their exact product designations and approved uses, as well as their physical packs.

For the cabinet discussion, provide representative unopened samples. Ask the equipment supplier to review the proposed holding arrangement, pack orientation, cap protection and customer collection path. Request a dispensing trial with the actual ordered packaging before accepting compatibility. A category page or photograph cannot demonstrate that a small bottle will remain upright or dispense reliably.

Keep product approval and machine approval together

WEIMI’s tape and adhesive vending category describes dispensing packaged tapes, sealing products and adhesives at assembly lines, warehouses and maintenance workshops. It provides a starting point for a project enquiry. The particular chemical, sealed pack and cabinet still need review.

Use the adhesive manufacturer’s storage and handling documents to define the requirements for the exact item. Ask the machine supplier to confirm the proposed installation and configuration against those requirements. If a grade or pack changes later, review the affected stock entry before refilling it. A label change alone cannot establish suitability.

What to send with a quotation request

Send a short stock file containing the approved product references, pack photographs, dimensions, weights, intended issue quantity and supplier documents. Add the installation location and expected replenishment process. Ask which sample trials and written confirmations are needed for the quoted configuration.

Keep a separate note for any proposed substitution. An unavailable grade should go back to the responsible technical team for approval rather than being replaced by another pack of the same colour. For a different question—threadlocker used on the vending equipment itself—see our joint maintenance and disassembly review.

Once the stock identity and packaging are clear, the equipment discussion becomes concrete: which approved packs are included, how each will be presented, and what evidence will support acceptance. This is procurement guidance based on public manufacturer information; it does not describe a completed customer installation or a tested WEIMI threadlocker configuration.
