Shuttlecock Vending: Match MAVIS 350 Speed to Hall Temperature

What green, blue and red caps mean when a badminton club orders replacement stock.

A badminton club ordering shuttlecock vending stock can choose the correct brand and model yet still receive the wrong speed variant. For YONEX MAVIS 350, the product name alone does not identify the complete choice. The manufacturer lists slow, medium and fast versions, each with a stated temperature range.

The practical buying question is: which version matches the conditions in the playing hall? It is not simply whether the club wants a “faster” game.

Read the speed and temperature together

On its official MAVIS 350 product page, YONEX explains that the hardness of the skirt—the feather-like part of the nylon shuttlecock—varies with temperature. It gives these cap markings:

  • Green cap: slow, 22–33°C.
  • Blue cap: medium, 12–23°C.
  • Red cap: fast, 0–13°C.

These are YONEX's published ranges for this product. They are not a temperature specification for the vending machine, and they should not be applied automatically to feather shuttlecocks or another manufacturer's range.

The ranges overlap at their edges. For example, 22°C appears in both the green and blue ranges. The published information therefore does not establish one uniquely correct option at every temperature. Ask the club's coach or equipment buyer to approve the speed for the actual hall rather than inventing a sharper cut-off.

Use playing conditions, not the outdoor forecast

Record the conditions where the shuttlecocks will be used. An outdoor weather reading does not establish the temperature inside an enclosed court. If the hall conditions change across seasons or sessions, ask the club whether its approved speed choice changes too.

For an order brief, write the model, the selected speed and the relevant hall conditions together. This makes the decision traceable when a purchasing team and a refill team handle different parts of the job. “MAVIS 350, medium speed, blue cap” is a clearer stock instruction than “one tube of badminton shuttles.”

Keep colour and pack quantity separate from speed

YONEX lists white and yellow shuttlecock colours and a quantity of one tube containing six shuttlecocks. The shuttlecock colour is a separate specification from the speed shown by the cap.

When preparing a product listing, state the speed and sale quantity in words. A buyer should know whether the purchase is a six-shuttlecock tube, which colour is inside and which speed variant is offered. A cap photograph can support that description, but should not replace it. If a supplier proposes a different pack, verify that pack rather than copying the six-piece quantity into its listing.

Approve the stock choice before approving the vending channel

Choosing the right speed answers a sports equipment question. It does not prove that a particular tube will dispense reliably. WEIMI's badminton club vending solution identifies tube format, dimensions and the selected delivery channel as items for validation. Its FAQ also calls for checks of weight, package strength and delivery method.

Send the actual approved tube for that review. Do not substitute a photograph of another speed variant or assume that all shuttlecock packs have identical dimensions. No MAVIS 350 dispensing test is reported here, and no YONEX partnership is implied.

For the wider venue plan, the badminton club retail guide discusses assortment and placement. This speed check belongs earlier in the product selection: decide what players need, then validate the pack and delivery arrangement.
