Expanding a Locker Vending Bank: Confirm the Architecture Before Buying More Doors

Seven questions for an additional-bank proposal.

Additional doors can introduce more than a physical extension. Controller limits, cabinet connections, software configuration and site requirements may all affect whether a locker bank can expand. Treat expansion as a documented configuration question.

Questions to send the supplier

  1. Which additional cabinets are approved for the installed configuration?
  2. What limits apply to the number and type of compartments?
  3. Which controller, wiring or software changes are required?
  4. How are physical and software door identifiers updated?
  5. What site preparation and utilities must be reviewed again?
  6. Which installation tasks require authorized personnel?
  7. What acceptance checks establish that the expanded bank is ready?

Compare the installed record with the proposal

Provide the supplier with the appropriate machine identifiers and configuration documentation. A catalogue image of a similar bank is not enough to establish compatibility. Ask whether a proposed extension changes any support or service terms.

Review customer circulation and staff access for the expanded footprint. Space that works for the current cabinet may be needed for the next bank, but should not be reserved in a way that blocks present service requirements.

Preserve the operating map

Update the compartment schedule, loading instructions and support references when expansion is approved. Keep the commissioning evidence with the revised configuration record. A future expansion preference belongs in the original WEIMI enquiry, but it should remain an open requirement until the supplier confirms the supported architecture.
