WEIMI / SERVICE MATERIAL BRIEF

The Vending Service Tube Has a Recovered Diameter. Is That the Installation Target?

Read heat-shrink dimensions as limits in different states before accepting a service-material quotation.

BUYER NOTE 01

Introduction

A vending service-material quote lists heat-shrink tubing with a fully recovered inside diameter. The receiving team compares that number with the part to be covered and assumes the two should match. Meanwhile, another team checks only whether the supplied tube will pass over the assembly. Both checks use real dimensions, but neither alone answers whether the product is appropriate in its installed state.

Heat-shrink tubing is designed to change shape. The buying brief therefore needs to distinguish its supplied dimensions, its fully recovered limits and the intended application. A single diameter copied into a purchase order loses that distinction. It can also leave the required coverage length unspecified after recovery.

TE Connectivity’s guide to selecting the correct size tubing explains why fit is more than matching a recovered-ID number. It identifies an installation window in its example, describes expanded and recovered dimensions as specified limits, and warns that length changes during recovery. This article translates those distinctions into questions for a supplier-reviewed service-material order.

BUYER NOTE 02

Quick Answer

Do not automatically use the fully recovered inside diameter as the target substrate diameter. Ask the material supplier to identify the correct application window for the exact tubing, and have the equipment supplier approve the proposed use.

The purchase record should keep three states distinct: the supplied tube that must fit over the relevant assembly, the intended installed tube around the substrate, and the fully recovered dimensional limit in the specification. Add the required installed coverage and the product-specific longitudinal-change information.

  • Record the exact material family, size and part number.
  • Retain the specified expanded and recovered inside-diameter limits.
  • Identify the actual substrate and any assembly feature the supplied tube must pass.
  • Request a reviewed installed-fit and length decision.
  • Keep the authorised material and application together for later reorders.

No tubing size, heating method or repair operation is approved by this article. The public guide supports a better clarification request, not an alteration to a vending machine.

BUYER NOTE 03

Comparison Table

Dimension or statement State it describes Purchasing question
Specified expanded ID Supplied tubing dimension Will the specified minimum support the actual application?
Specified recovered ID Fully recovered dimensional limit What installed substrate range does the supplier recommend?
Substrate outside diameter The item to be covered Which actual component and dimensional information apply?
Required coverage length Finished application requirement How does the product’s length change affect the supplied length?
Approved application record Identified product and intended use Does the delivered material still match the reviewed specification?

Use these as separate fields. The state attached to a dimension is part of its meaning. A number without “expanded”, “recovered” or “installed requirement” is an incomplete comparison.

BUYER NOTE 04

Who Should Buy This

This guide is for service coordinators, spare-material buyers and integration teams reviewing a separately proposed heat-shrink material. It is relevant when the order describes only a shrink ratio, a recovered diameter or an informal size label, and the technical team needs a traceable specification.

It is also relevant when a previously approved material must be reordered. A product-family name without the size variant and applicable assembly can leave the next buyer uncertain about what was actually accepted.

For buyers of a complete standard vending machine, first ask whether any separately purchased tubing is part of the authorised project scope. Do not assume a field repair, insulation change or cable modification is necessary. Materials used in an approved build and materials proposed by a local service provider need configuration-specific confirmation from the responsible supplier.

The goal is to buy a documented service scope. It is not to have purchasing staff select an electrical repair or perform a heating operation.

How We Evaluate Smart Vending Machines

The three WEIMI products below are a shortlist based on public listings, not independent tests. Their descriptions support a retail-format comparison. We have not examined their internal wiring, identified their heat-shrink materials or tested a service assembly.

For a material-related quotation, our evaluation asks whether the proposed service is defined and whether the selected material has an application review. A machine’s touchscreen, cloud functions or cabinet format does not answer those questions. Obtain the actual configuration and authorised service instructions from the equipment supplier.

The supporting record should connect the tubing part number, relevant dimensional limits, actual substrate, installed coverage requirement and responsible approval. If a distributor’s quote describes a product differently from the manufacturer’s data sheet, reconcile the descriptions before ordering.

We do not convert a material listing into a machine capability. TE’s sizing guide is manufacturer guidance about tubing; it does not identify a WEIMI component or establish the acceptance of any proposed service work.

BUYER NOTE 06

Key Buying Factors

Preserve the dimensional state

TE says tubing is supplied at a specified minimum expanded inside diameter. It advises buyers to use that specified dimension rather than assuming every delivery will have exactly the same actual dimension. Keep the limit and state with the number when transferring the data into a quotation schedule.

Distinguish full recovery from installed fit

The guide says not to assume tubing always shrinks to exactly the same fully recovered dimensions. The specified recovered ID is a maximum limit. It also explains that a robust installation should retain some unresolved recovery instead of using the tube at its fully recovered size. Ask the supplier to apply the relevant product guidance to the proposed substrate.

Read the manufacturer’s example within its scope

TE uses RNF-100 size 1 inch as an example: it states a maximum recovered ID of 0.50 inch and describes an intended substrate outside-diameter window of 0.55–0.80 inch in that example. The point is that the fully recovered limit and the recommended application window differ. These values are not a tubing recommendation for a vending machine or a universal allowance for every heat-shrink family.

Check the supplied fit without forcing an assumption

The supplied tube must be considered against the actual assembly it would cover. TE warns against forcing tubing over an object by stretching it because it may tear during recovery. Refer an uncertain fit to the supplier. Do not treat a trial on an unrelated part as evidence that the production assembly is suitable.

Retain the length requirement after recovery

TE explains that tubing generally changes length during recovery and that different products have different longitudinal-change values; it also notes that some can grow in length. The order should identify the finished coverage requirement and have the supplier resolve the appropriate supplied length using the actual product specification. Do not assume cut length and final coverage are identical.

Review material suitability beyond dimensions

A dimensional match does not select the material for its purpose. Give the responsible supplier the intended use and the equipment configuration. Request the applicable material data and authorised instructions. Do not infer electrical insulation performance, sealing, temperature capability or mechanical protection from a diameter entry alone.

Keep substitutions visible

If a service provider changes the tubing family, size or substrate, reopen the affected review. A different product may have different dimensional limits and length behaviour. Retain the approved combination so that later service stock is ordered from a specific record rather than from a generic box marked “heat shrink”.

Best Smart Vending Machines

1. WEIMI WM22 touchscreen snack and drink machine

The WM22 public listing describes packaged snack-and-drink retail with touchscreen selection, product information and promotions. It is a candidate when those customer-interface features fit the planned offer.

For separately proposed service materials, ask for the authorised scope and configuration reference. The listing does not identify a heat-shrink product used throughout every machine build. A digital menu is a reason to consider the retail format, not evidence that a particular tubing part is approved.

2. WEIMI single-door AI vision smart fridge

The single-door AI vision fridge listing describes packaged-product shopping by opening the door, selecting goods and closing it, with cloud management. It is not a fresh-juice squeezing machine.

Consider this format when the assortment and customer process suit open/select/close shopping. Resolve any proposed service material through the supplier for the actual configuration. The public page does not establish a tubing size, an electrical service method or approval of a local repair.

3. WEIMI dual-cabinet snack and drink station

The dual-cabinet public listing shows a main selling section, portrait menu and secondary visible spiral-lane compartment. It is a candidate for buyers whose assortment benefits from that arrangement.

Ask for the supplied station’s own service documentation rather than applying a material decision from a different cabinet. Two selling sections do not establish which internal components or sleeve sizes are present. Keep the technical service question tied to the quoted configuration.

BUYER NOTE 08

Feature Comparison

Candidate Public basis for consideration Material-related evidence to request if applicable
WM22 Touchscreen packaged snack-and-drink selection Authorised service scope and configuration reference
Single-door AI vision fridge Open/select/close packaged-product shopping Applicable supplier instructions for the actual cabinet
Dual-cabinet station Main and secondary selling sections Station-specific documentation for any proposed service material

This comparison does not rank insulation systems or repair methods. Select the retail format by assortment and customer journey. Then resolve any separately proposed material through the responsible equipment and material suppliers.

Cost & ROI Analysis

Assumed planning example only; no amount is a real quotation. A buyer might budget $48 for reconciling the tubing specification, $96 for an application review and $36 for updating the service-stock record. The assumed total is $180. At an assumed internal rate of $40 per hour, the amount corresponds to 4.5 hours of effort.

Assumed activity Illustrative amount Documentation output
Specification check $48 Dimensional states and exact product identified
Application review $96 Substrate and required installed coverage reviewed
Stock-record update $36 Approved material and scope retained
Total $180 48 + 96 + 36
Effort equivalent 4.5 hours 180 ÷ assumed $40/hour

The example does not price tubing, tools, service labour or testing. It also does not estimate failure rates, avoided incidents or payback. Obtain actual quotations for the approved scope.

A vending investment model still needs separate assumptions for machine price, sales demand, gross margin and operating costs. A low material price cannot justify an unreviewed substitution. Once the service scope is accepted, use its actual cost in the project model.

BUYER NOTE 10

Best Choice by Scenario

The quote gives only a recovered diameter: ask for the exact product data and the recommended application window. Keep the fully recovered limit separate from the proposed substrate dimension.

The supplied tube passes the assembly: continue the review. Supplied fit alone does not establish installed fit, material suitability or finished coverage.

The required covered length is fixed: give that finished requirement to the supplier and request the product-specific supplied-length decision. Do not silently substitute the same number as the cut length.

A replacement family is offered: compare the actual specifications and obtain a revised application decision. A familiar shrink description does not establish equivalence.

No separate material is required by the approved machine scope: follow the supplier’s supplied arrangement and service process. Do not add an unnecessary alteration to the delivery plan.

BUYER NOTE 11

Applications

At quote review, separate product identity from application requirements. The tubing data sheet should state its limits; the project brief should identify the actual substrate and the finished coverage needed. The supplier’s review connects them.

At service-provider onboarding, request the approved material reference and who owns a substitution decision. A provider’s familiarity with another piece of equipment is not evidence about the current configuration.

At stores receipt, reconcile the delivery identity with the accepted order. If a label describes a different size state or variant, seek clarification before releasing it into the relevant service stock. Do not use a loose, unidentified sample to redefine the approved specification.

For reorders, retain the product version and application record. If the machine configuration or proposed service changes, ask the technical owner whether the earlier material decision still applies. This documentation process does not require opening equipment or carrying out a repair.

FAQ

Is the fully recovered ID the target substrate diameter?

Not automatically. TE’s guide distinguishes the fully recovered limit from its recommended installation window. Ask the supplier to review the actual product and application.

Does expanded ID describe an exact delivered measurement?

TE says to use the specified minimum expanded ID rather than assuming each delivery has exactly the same dimension.

Can the supplied length be treated as final installed coverage?

No. The guide describes product-dependent longitudinal change during recovery. Have the supplier resolve the required supplied length.

Do the RNF-100 example values apply to every tubing product?

No. They illustrate TE’s specific sizing example. Use the actual product documentation and supplier review.

Does this guide specify tubing for a WEIMI machine?

No. It identifies procurement questions. Obtain configuration-specific material and service approval from the responsible supplier.

What should a supplier-approved material record contain?

Keep the exact product, dimensional limits, intended substrate, required installed coverage and responsible approval together.

BUYER NOTE 13

Final Recommendation

Keep the dimensional states visible from enquiry to reorder. The expanded tube, the intended installed fit and the fully recovered limit answer different questions. A complete material decision also accounts for required coverage and product-specific length change.

Before accepting a service-material quote, ask the supplier to reconcile those fields for the actual assembly and authorised scope. Preserve the accepted product and application together. That gives a later buyer an evidence-based reference instead of an ambiguous diameter.
